This book is an introduction on the extractive metallurgy of rare earths. Rare earths nick named RE are not earths and not so rare, it is a group of metals discovered or extracted less than 200 years ago. They are essentially used to make new kind of magnets. They use them to do new generation speakers and batteries for iphones for instance, they use them for phosphores that shine in the dark (on your watch) and they are used also to produce sparks in ligthers (for smokers). They are used in air-jets, laser. and intelligent weapons...
